Hoyam Volunteer
Helping people rise above their obstacles
is what we help other people with
We are currently working on our projects. The projects have a big variety on subjects so everyone can help and everybody gets help. Another benefit of our projects is that they are very extensive. This way everybody can contribute with something small or big. The target group will receive help in a time of need, not afterwards.
…make the world a better and saver place! At Hoyam, every month has a theme. And every theme has a goal. My name is Inge Pronk. I am 18 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I have 4 years experience as a swimming educator and I did 7 Months volunteer work in Morocco. In those seven months I was an English teacher and I helped with local projects. This also inspired me to start my own projects. I have loved working with children since I was a child, and that’s one of the reasons why I love to teach. I also love to do this because it’s amazing to see children experience and discover how much they can do after they master the certain skills.
I am Zainab Afassi. I’m 22 years old and I live in Tetouan in Morocco. I have 3 years experience as a leader with the Scout of Peace (OSAP). I finished the first two years of my study in Science, since I have a big interest in science and mathematics. Now I’m studying Business Management. I love working with children and youth, so I teach and help pupils with science and mathematics. I love doing volunteer work and I have been doing this for a long time. I have a lot of experience with volunteer projects and I am ready to start more projects.
We do volunteer work not only because we enjoy it. It gives us a better image of the world and the different types of people who live in it. Everybody has obstacles in their lives, small and /or big. And some people can handle everything themselves, but other people need a little bit or maybe a lot of help to overcome those obstacles. We are here to help all those people, the people who need a lot of help, a little bit of help or no help at all. We are here to help them recognize and overcome their obstacles and motivate them to keep going. Because life is beautiful and even though it sometimes does not look like it, in the end everything will be fine.

The idea behind our name, logo and work
Our name:
Hoyam is an Arabic word that means ‘unconditional love’. We chose to have an Arabic name since we both have a very close connection with Morocco and the Arabic language. Hoyam to us also means ‘giving love without expecting anything in return’, this is also the meaning of doing volunteer work.
Our logo:
Our logo consists out of a lotus flower, an unalome and our name. The symbols from our logo have a meaning that perfectly fits to Hoyam. The lotus flower is a flower that grows from the muddy water, over its obstacles, to the bright light. We are helping people grow over their obstacles and achieve their goal, the light. And the unalome stands for the ups and downs in life, life has good parts and bad parts but in the end everything will be fine. We are helping people to see the good in life and overcome their obstacles.
Our work:
In Hoyam Volunteer we don’t just do volunteer work, we have a lot more going on behind the scenes. We hope to inspire more people to do good deeds, small or big. We also want to train young people in being good leaders by giving them workshops and helping them set up their own projects. This involves training, workshops and practice. We think every person is unique and needs to have a chance to show how amazingly special they are.
